Pastels Stain - Material Safety Data Sheet

Pastel StainsPRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
This line of penetrating, oil-based stains imparts rich pastel colors to the wood that complement today's designer look. Available in Country White, Golden Wheat and Stone Grey, DURA SEAL Pastels Stain highlights rather than hides the natural grain of the wood.

DIRECTIONS:
Surface Preparation:
1. Properly prepare surface according to NOFMA or NWFA approved methods.
2. Final Sanding should be done with eighty (80) grit screen to allow deeper penetration of stain.
3. Remove all dust with a broom and/or vacuum and tack surface with a clean towel moistened with mineral spirits.

Application:
1. Stir material thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Apply a test sample on a small inconspicuous area before proceeding with entire job to insure desired color. Always stain with the grain.
2. Apply the first coat of DURA SEAL Pastels Stain with a brush, lambs wool applicator or cloth. NOTE: Do not use steel wool. To ensure adequate open time and to maintain a wet edge, apply liberally at an application rate of approximately 400 square feet per gallon.
3. Allow to penetrate for 2 to 4 minutes then remove excess by wiping with clean rags.
NOTE: Do not use steel wool. DURA SEAL Pastels Stain dries faster than DURA SEAL Penetrating Finish, 200 Series. If stain becomes tacky, wipe surface with a rag moistened with mineral spirits. Removal of all excess material is essential to ensure proper dry time.
4. A second coat may be applied if greater color density is desired. Allow first coat to dry approximately 8 hours before applying a second coat of non-yellowing top coat. Allow stain to dry 3 days before applying a non-yellowing water borne top coat.

PRECAUTION:
Do not use steel wool. To avoid discoloration, use of a non-yellowing top coat over DURA SEAL Pastels is recommended.

IMPORTANT:
Immediately after use, place rags, steel wool and other waste in a sealed, water filled metal container. See cautionary statement.
