Description
DuraSeal® Gymthane® Gameline paint is formulated to use directly from the can. Do not thin. This waterbased paint is specifically designed for use with DuraSeal® Gymthane® water borne and oil-modified finishing systems on wood sports floors. DuraSeal® Gymthane® Gameline paints are blendable as well as tintable. This allows you the ability to achieve any desired custom color. Easy soap and water clean up eliminates the need for mineral spirits or paint thinner.
Recommended Use
Designed specifically for gymnasium floors.
Surface Preparation
WARNING! Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment, such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. For more information, call the National Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD (in US) or contact your local health authority.
Application
Sand and prepare floor according to MFMA recommended methods. All old finish should be removed to ensure proper adhesion. Sweep, vacuum and tack floor as recommended to remove all dust. Tape areas to be painted using 3M #2090 for curved lines and #2080 for straight lines. Apply adequate pressure to prevent paint from bleeding under tape. Stir paint well and mix all same color together to ensure uniform color consistency.
Gameline Application
Tape areas to be painted according to MFMA specifications. Stir and mix all paint of the same color thoroughly. Apply paint using a ®® soft woven nap roller or high quality nylon/polyester brush. Apply paint at 6-8 mils wet; approximately level with the tape. This will ensure one-coat coverage with most colors. More than one coat may be needed for certain colors. Allow paint to dry a minimum of 24 hours before abrading or coating with a finish. Additional dry time may be needed in cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Abrade paint with a used DuraSeal® Pre-Treat pad to ensure adequate adhesion. Sweep, vacuum and tack floor with water to remove all dust. Allow floor to dry a minimum of 30 minutes before applying finish.
Additional Application Tips
Ideally, apply one coat of paint per day. A second coat of paint may be applied if the first coat is dry to the touch (approximately 4.5 hours under ideal environmental conditions of 70®F and 50% relative humidity). If second coat is applied within 5 hours of the first coat, abrading is not necessary. If more than 5 hours, wait 24 hours and lightly abrade first coat before applying second coat. Moderate air movement will improve drying. It is not necessary to remove tape in between coats of paint application. Paint will not bleed under tape if tape is applied properly. Allow paint to dry a minimum 2-4 hours before removing tape to avoid the possibility of lifting the paint with the tape. When working with more than one container of the same color, intermix all cans to ensure color uniformity.
COVERAGE
Approximately 325-500 square feet per gallon.
